ANIMALS & PETS
Let’s face it, pets are a member of the family. They protect us, play with our children and us, even eat at the dinner table (depending on your culture at home). However, they are also a part of the animal kingdom and they may do what animals do. Sometimes they may do it to a neighbor who is not a part of the family. Fortunately, there are bylaws that protect not only your pet, but neighbors and their property, and the property of the community in which we live.
A few of these rules governing our pet’s behavior are:
-
There are five dog stations strategically located at designated areas within The Villages at Lafayette Park. These stations are placed for the convenience of your pet in the event he/she feels the need to go (if you know what I mean). Please utilize these stations and regard your neighbor’s personal property.
-
All pets are required to be accompanied by the owner, and placed on a leash while walking within the community. Please do not allow your pet to roam freely.
-
There is a limit to four (4) dogs / cats per residence.
-
Pet owners are required to respect their neighbors in regards to your pet’s activities (i.e. barking loudly, crossing property boundaries, grass, etc.)
For your convenience, below is an excerpt of the “Animal and Pets” section in the Villages POA Covenant PDF, page 31 & 32, section 10.10.
-
10.10. Animals and Pets. No animals, livestock, or poultry of any kind may be raised, bred, kept, or permitted on any Lot, with the exception of dogs, cats, or other usual and common household
-
Pets in reasonable number, as determined by the Board. No animals shall be kept, bred or maintained for commercial purposes without prior written Board approval. All pets shall be reasonably controlled by the owner whenever outside a dwelling and shall be kept in such a manner as to not become a nuisance by barking or other acts.
-
The owners of the pet shall be responsible for all of the pet’s actions. If, in the sole opinion of the Board, any animal becomes dangerous or an annoyance or nuisance in the Properties or to nearby property or destructive of wildlife, such animal shall be removed from the Properties. By way of explanation and not limitation, this Section may be enforced by exercising self-help rights provided in Section 4.3.
